Masturbação
Com intenção de advertir os Adventistas da época, Ellen G. White
publicou em 1864 conselhos relacionado à masturbação num folheto sob o
título: An Appeal to Mothers: The Great Cause of the Physical, Mental,
and Moral Ruin of Children of Our Time (Um Apelo às Mães: A Grande Causa
da Ruína Física, Mental e Moral de Nossa Época).
"Sinto-me
alarmada com aquelas crianças… que pelo vício solitário estão se
arruinando… ouvi numerosas queixas de dor de cabeça, catarro, tontura,
nervosismo, dor nos ombros e do lado, perda de apetite, dor nas costa e
membros… e não percebestes ter havido uma deficiência na saúde mental de
vossos filhos?… A indulgência secreta [masturbação] é, em muitos casos,
a única causa real das numerosas queixas da juventude" (págs. 11, 13).
"A condição do mundo é alarmante. Por toda parte que olhemos vemos
imbecilidade, nanismo, membros aleijados, cabeças mal formadas e
deformidade de toda descrição… Hábitos corrompidos estão dissipando sua
energia, e trazendo-lhes enfermidades repugnantes e complicadas… As
crianças que praticam a auto-indulgência [masturbação]… devem pagar a
penalidade" (pág. 14).
"Prosseguindo a prática desde os 15 anos
ou mais, a natureza protestará… e fa-los-á pagar elevado preço… por
numerosas dores no organismo, e várias doenças, tais como indisposição
de fígado e pulmões, nevralgias, reumatismo, problemas da espinha,
doenças renais e tumores cancerosos… Com freqüência ocorre uma súbita
avaria da constituição, e a morte vem como resultado" (págs. 14 e 15).

"As mulheres possuem menos força vital do que o sexo oposto… O
resultado do auto-abuso nelas é visto em várias doenças, tais como
catarro, tontura, dor de cabeça, perda de memória e visão, grande
fraqueza nas costas e cadeiras, dores na espinha e, com freqüência,
queda da cabeça para trás… A mente é amiúde inteiramente arruinada e uma
condição doentia prevalece… Estas são práticas tão suicidas quanto
apontar uma pistola para o próprio peito… Entre os jovens o capital
vital e o cérebro são tão severamente sobrecarregados em tenra idade que
há deficiência e grande esgotamento, o que deixa o organismo exposto a
doenças de vários tipos. Mas a mais comum dessas é a tuberculose" (pág.
17).
"Não há fim em vista para as doenças causadas pelo vício
solitário". A esta frase é adicionada uma enorme lista de enfermidades
supostamente assim surgidas, entre as quais "epilepsia, danos à visão",
"hemorragia nos pulmões, espasmos do coração e pulmões, diabetes,
reumatismo, tuberculose, asma" e mais de uma dúzia de outras.
Especialistas declaram que masturbação, tanto para homens quanto para
mulheres, não faz mal nenhum do ponto de vista médico (tal como fizeram
em reportagem Fernando Almeida, professor de urologia da Universidade
Federal de São Paulo (Unifesp) e Arlete Gianfaldoni, ginecologista
assistente do Hospital das Clínicas de São Paulo ). E ainda segundo
outros especialistas, a masturbação: "Por muito tempo, foi entendida
como um mau hábito e esse conceito equivocado foi transmitido de geração
para geração." Explicam que já no século dezoito, devido a crendices e
tabus, a masturbação era condenada pela sociedade, pela igreja, e pela
própria ciência.
Naquela época por exemplo, o Sr Tissot(Samuel
Auguste Tissot) escreveu um tratado sobre as consequências do ato da
masturbação e destacou que esta poderia causar doenças mentais e
cerebrais, bem como a fraqueza física, a palidez, o desinteresse geral e
até os sinais de esquizofrenia e epilepsia. Pela afirmação desses
profissionais, estudos mostraram que a masturbação é uma prática natural
e saudável e declaram: "Hoje sabemos que masturbação não causa
impotência, distúrbios psicóticos ou qualquer outro dano físico, mental
ou de desempenho sexual. "
Mesmo que a religião discorde sobre o
ato de masturbar-se, condenando-o como pecado pois seria uma especie de
sexo antes do casamento, ela não o pode afirmar que este ato traz os
riscos descritos pelo devaneio de Ellen White nos escritos que coloquei a
cima.
Amas de leite transmitem o seu caráter às crianças?
"As mulheres não devem permitir que amas de leite amamentem seus bebês
ou os bebês assumirão a índole e o temperamento do enfermeiro. Um
estranho exerce as funções da mãe e dá seu peito o alimento para
sustentar a vida. E não é tudo. Ela também transmite o seu temperamento.
A vida da criança está ligado a dela. Se o enfermeira é um tipo
grosseiro de mulher, apaixonada, e irracional, se ela não for cuidadosa
em sua moral, o lactente será, com toda a probabilidade, do mesmo, ou um
tipo similar. A mesma qualidade grosseira de sangue, correndo nas veias
da enfermeira, é o que correrá na criança". --- O Reformador da Saúde, 1

Caráter passado pelo leite?
Lembro a primeira vez que li este escrito de Ellen White, eu fiquei
boquiaberto com tanta estupidez escrita por uma pessoa. Poderia eu
continuar a dar créditos aos concelhos por ela escritos?

ResponderExcluirComo sou bastante crítico e costumo suspeitar a priori das fontes empregadas nas argumentações, dei-me o trabalho de procurar cada citação dessa postagem no próprio site do Ellen White State [http://egwtext.whiteestate.org], o banco de dados oficial em que se encontram todos os escritos da Sra. White.
O resultado da minha pesquisa? Confirmado, decepcionantemente ela escreveu tudo isso mesmo, e mais um pouco...

There are mothers who will sacrifice their maternal duties in nursing their children simply because it is too much trouble to be confined to their offspring, which is the fruit of their own body. The ball room, and the exciting scenes of pleasure, have had the influence to benumb the fine sensibilities of the soul. These have been more attractive to the fashionable mother than maternal duties to her children. May be, she puts her children out to a hireling, to do those duties for them which should belong to herself exclusively. Her false habits make the necessary duties, which it should be her joy to perform, disagreeable to her, because the care of her children will interfere with the claims of fashionable life. A stranger performs the duties of the mother, and gives from her breast the food to sustain life. HR September 1, 1871, Art. A, par. 6
Nor is this all. She also imparts her temper and her temperament to the nursing child. The child’s life is linked to hers. If the hireling is a coarse type of woman, passionate, and unreasonable; if she is not careful in her morals, the nursling will be, in all probability, of the same, or a similar type. The same coarse quality of blood, coursing in the veins of the hireling nurse, is in that of the child. Mothers who will thus turn their children from their arms, and refuse the maternal duties, because they are a burden which they cannot well sustain, while devoting their lives to fashion, are unworthy the name of mother. They degrade the noble instincts and holy attributes of women, and choose to be butterflies of fashionable pleasure, having less sense of their responsibility to their posterity than the dumb brutes. Many mothers substitute the bottle for the breast. This is necessary because they have not nourishment for their children. But in nine cases out of ten their wrong habits of dressing, and of eating from their youth, have brought upon them inability to perform the duties nature designed they should. Some mothers may be diseased so that they dare not nurse their children. All such females should not take upon themselves the responsibility of becoming mothers. It is criminal in the sight of Heaven for parents who are suffering themselves with disease, to risk the consequences of having children. Such should feel that they are excused from perpetuating their race. If reason and conscience controlled this matter, the world would not now be groaning under its weight of physical suffering, deformity, and imbecility. The world is no better for such additions. But this class do their part to hasten the degeneracy in the sinking standard of humanity. They are deficient in physical, mental, and moral worth, and are aiding in the depreciation of the race. As the mother sees her daughter languid and dispirited, with but little vigor, easily irritated, starting suddenly and nervously when spoken to, she feels alarmed, and fears that she will not be able to reach womanhood with a good constitution. She relieves her, if possible, from active labor, and anxiously consults a physician, who prescribes for her without making searching inquiries, or suggesting to the unsuspecting mother the probable cause of her daughter’s illness. Secret indulgence is, in many cases, the only real SA 57.2 cause of the numerous complaints of the young. This vice is laying waste the vital forces, and debilitating the system; and until the habit, which produced the result, is broken off, there can be no permanent cure. To relieve the young from healthful labor, is the worst possible course a parent can pursue. Their life is then aimless, the mind and hands unoccupied, the imagination active, and left free to indulge in thoughts that are not pure and healthful. In this condition they are inclined to indulge still more freely in that vice which is the foundation of all their complaints. SA 58.2
The state of our world is alarming. Everywhere we look, we see imbecility, dwarfed SA 62.3 forms, crippled limbs, misshapen heads, and deformity of every description. Sin and crime, and the violation of nature’s laws, are the causes of this accumulation of human woe and suffering. A large share of the youth now living are worthless. Corrupt habits are wasting their energies, and bringing upon them loathsome and complicated diseases. Unsuspecting parents will try the skill of physicians, one after another, who prescribe drugs, when they generally know the real cause of the failing health; but for fear of offending, and losing their fees, they keep silent, when, as faithful physicians, they should expose the real cause. Their drugs only add a second great burden for abused nature to struggle against; and in this struggle nature often breaks down in her efforts, and the victim dies. And the friends look upon the death as a mysterious dispensation of Providence, when the most mysterious part of the matter is, that nature bore up as long as she did against her violated laws. Health, reason, and life, were sacrificed to depraved lusts. SA 63.3
Children who practice self-indulgence previous to puberty, or the period of merging into manhood or womanhood, must pay the penalty of nature’s violated laws at that critical period. Many sink into an early grave, while others have sufficient force of SA 63.1 constitution to pass this ordeal. If the practice is continued from the age of fifteen and upward, nature will protest against the abuse she has suffered, and continues to suffer, and will make them pay the penalty for the transgression of her laws, especially from the ages of thirty to forty-five, by numerous pains in the system, and various diseases, such as affection of the liver and lungs, neuralgia, rheumatism, affection of the spine, diseased kidneys, and cancerous humors. Some of nature’s fine machinery gives way, leaving a heavier task for the remaining to perform, which disorders nature’s fine arrangement, and there is often a sudden breaking down of the constitution; and death is the result. SA 64.1
Females possess less vital force than the other sex, and are deprived very much of the bracing, invigorating air, by their in-door life. The result of self-abuse in them is seen in various diseases, such as catarrh, dropsy, headache, loss of memory and sight, great weakness in the back and loins, affections of the spine, and frequently, inward decay of the head. Cancerous humor, which would lie dormant in the system their lifetime, is inflamed, and commences its eating, destructive work. The mind is often utterly ruined, and insanity supervenes. SA 73.2
